The Loyal Methodist church was the scene of a wedding of Miss Mildred  Holmes, daughter the Rev. and Mrs. Lee H. Holmes, and Orville Nysted, son of Mr. and Mrs. Peter  Nysted, at 8 p.m. Tuesday, July 19. Officiating at the services were the bride’s father, who also gave her in marriage, and the Rev. R. J. Fleming of Marshfield, uncle of the bride.

The bride was gowned in white taffeta, designed with a low scalloped neckline, short scalloped sleeves and three tiers of scallops at the hipline. Her bouffant skirt and long flowing train were also bordered with scallops. She wore gauntlets and carried a shower bouquet of pink roses and white asters. A beaded tiara held her net fingertip veil.

Miss Marjorie Holmes was maid of honor for her sister, and the bridesmaids were Miss Mary Nysted, sister of the groom, and Mrs. Julius Nysted, his sister-in-law. They were attired in aqua, shell pink and orchid frosted organdy, respectively. Completing their costumes were net sweetheart bonnets and embroidered nylon gloves which matched their gowns. The maid of honor carried a bouquet of yellow roses while the bridesmaids had mixed bouquets of asters.

Julius Nysted was his brother’s best man. Also serving the groom were the Rev. Virgil Holmes, brother of the bride, and Robert Cook of Unity, cousin of the bride. Ushers were Myron Fleming of Marshfield and Ray Cook of Unity, both cousins of the bride.

Christine Noeldner of Loyal, niece of the groom, was flower girl in a white frosted organdy dress. Ring bearers were Douglas Cook of Unity, cousin of the bride, and Carol Noeldner of Loyal, niece of the groom.

Miss Donna Mae Gotter played the organ for the wedding marches and accompanied the singers. Miss Wanda Nysted sang "I’ll Walk Beside You," Syrl Andrew of Spencer sang, "To My Bride," and James Ursin of Des Moines, Ia., sang, "The Lord’s Prayer."

Following the ceremony, a reception for 250 guests was held on the lawn of the parsonage. At this reception Mrs. Leonard Nysted of Northfield, Minn., sang, "Because," and Mr. Ursin sang, "I Love You Truly." Waitresses were Ardyce Holms and Irene Rowley of Loyal, Jane Andrews of Spencer and Barbara Holnbeck and Faith Maddott of Unity. They  wore formals in pastel shades. The three-tiered wedding cake was made by Mrs. Russell Andrews of Spencer, aunt of the bride.

In addition to other guests, members of the congregations at Greenwood, Loyal and York Center were invited to attend the wedding.

Mr. Nysted, who graduated from the Loyal high school with the class of 1944, is a senior at St, Olaf’s college in Northfield, Minn., and his bride was graduated from the Loyal high school this year.

Upon their return from a northern Wisconsin honeymoon, the couple will live at Northfield.

To the newlyweds, the Loyal Tribune extends its wishes for a long and happy married life.
